Debuting solo artist Phil Thompson on Friday released his first full-length album My Worship. The 11-track album, which features guest appearances by Nia Allen and Shana Wilson Williams, immediately reached No. 2 on iTunes Christian/Gospel Top 200 Digital Albums chart and the Top 10 on Amazon Music Christian Top Albums chart.
Receiving the news about the successful debut, Thompson was thankful in a post on Instagram, "I'm feeling happy. I'm so glad I have a father, who calls me His own. He knows my name. He knows my every thought. He sees each tear that falls. And He hears me when I call. Thank you all for your support!"
Following its release in August last year, the album's lead single and title track, "My Worship," debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Gospel Digital Song Sales chart, capturing international attention and generating over three million audio and visual streams. The song generated buzz across the country as it amassed over one million views on YouTube in only two months for its official live session recording video.
Apart from his own songwriting on the album, Thompson credits Ashmont Hill for inking acclaimed songs such as "Praise His Name," "Your Masterpiece," and "Love Lifted Me" (recorded by JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise) to name a few.
Having been singing since childhood, the Boston native is currently the worship leader at the city's Jubilee Christian Church. However, it was not until he was 30 years old that he discovered a gifting for writing music.
With his debut solo project and the impact of its title track, which has been recorded in four languages, Thompson says he desires nothing more than to offer up a daily sacrifice to his Savior, while guiding everyone to do the same, believing that every person of faith has a unique worship crafted by their own life experiences that God desires,
