On Thursday, Pure Flix released the latest trailer for God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness, the latest film in their popular God's Not Dead movie series. Recently, they also announced the movie is slated for release in theaters nationwide this upcoming Easter, on Saturday, March 30.
The movie is filmed on location in Little Rock, Ark., and stars David A.R. White from the original God's Not Dead in the lead role as Pastor Dave, along with Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee John Corbett, Shane Harper, Ted McGinley, Jennifer Taylor, and Academy Award winner Tatum O'Neal.
God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness centers on Pastor Dave and the tragedy he endures when his church, located on the grounds of the local university, is burned down, and his dreams of rebuilding the church face an unexpected setback when university officials reject his plans to rebuild, determining that the church is no longer relevant in today's society.
Enlisting the help of his estranged lawyer brother, Pearce (John Corbett), who is also an atheist, the unlikely partners slowly come to understand that not every victory requires defeating the opposition, but that there is a greater victory when you heal and rebuild with compassion and respect for others.
On social media, fans and first-time viewers alike express excitement for the upcoming movie release.
Facebook user Marisa reflects on a quote from the latest trailer, "'The whole world knows what the church is against. But it's getting harder and harder to know what it's for.' What an eye-opener. Makes you stop and really take a look at yourself and ask some questions."
The original God's Not Dead became a surprise hit, grossing $64.7M worldwide on a $2M budget. It has since spawned the sequels God's Not Dead 2 and now God's Not Dead: A Light In Darkness.
