Acclaimed Christian rock band NewSong is announcing the "Greatest Hits Live" tour, featuring some of Christian music's most loved artists of all time performing their classic songs of inspiration. In addition to NewSong, the lineup consists of legendary artists Point of Grace, Avalon, Nicole C. Mullen, Bob Carlisle, and Rebecca St. James.
Sponsored by Holt International, the tour kicks off Nov. 1 in Jacksonville, Fla., visiting a slew of cities before concluding Nov. 11 in Bossier City, La., with the full tour schedule available at the end of this article.
NewSong, who are also behind the annual mega success Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, says they have been working feverishly behind the scenes for the past few months putting the new tour together.
"We hope 'Greatest Hits Live' will be a night of falling in love with these classic songs all over again," says tour creator and NewSong founding member Eddie Carswell. "There are nearly one hundred No. 1 hits among all six artists on the tour, and we'll each be performing some of these singles for the first time in years."
"Not only is the music so personal to us, but we continue to hear stories of how God has used these songs to work in the hearts of others," he explains. "It's a powerful reminder of why we all do what we do."
With a career spanning over 30 years, NewSong with their 20 albums has garnered 20 No. 1 Christian radio singles, a No. 1 mainstream AC hit, a Grammy Award nomination and induction to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, among many other achievements. Point of Grace sports similar accolades, selling over eight million units over a two-decade career, garnering two platinum records, three Grammy-nominations, 27 No. 1 singles, and numerous GMA Dove Awards.
Debuting in 1996, Avalon quickly became synonymous with the sound of Christian radio. With songs such as "Adonai," "Can't Live A Day," and their smash anthem, "Testify To Love," the group has earned a total of 22 No. 1 singles, three Grammy nominations, an American Music Award, and six Dove Awards.
Nicole C. Mullen became the first African-American to win the coveted GMA Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year for her smash hit "Redeemer," becoming a trailblazer of the genre. In addition, with two Grammy nominations and seven Dove Awards to her credit, she has also helped pen such classic songs as "On My Knees," and "Call on Jesus."
Perhaps best known for his multi-format 1997 hit "Butterfly Kisses," a song written for his daughter which went on to sell more than two million copies and win a Grammy Award, Bob Carlisle began his music career as co-founder of pioneering Christian rock band ALLIES. Since the launch of his solo career in the 1990s, Carlisle has won four Dove Awards and has writing credits to songs such as Dolly Parton's No. 1 country single, "Why'd You Come In Here (Looking Like That?)" and his own signature songs, such as, "Giving You The Rest Of My Life," "Getting Stronger," and "Bridge Between Two Hearts."
Australian-born Rebecca St. James stepped into the Christian music spotlight as a teenager, with hits such as "God," "Pray," "Reborn," and "Wait For Me." St. James, who is the sister of for KING & COUNTRY brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, has earned two gold albums and a Grammy Award, selling over two million albums to date.
