200 Homeless Feast on Four-Course-Sit-Down after Wedding Is Called Off

Carol and Willie Fowler put a whole new meaning to the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." As the Atlanta, Georgia couple has managed to turn their daughter Tamara's cancelled wedding, into a donated banquet for 200 homeless and their families.  The wedding was set to be at the Villa Christina catering hall until it was cancelled off, 40 days before the would-be wedding. Elizabeth Omilami , head of "Hosea Feed the Hungry" arranged with the Fowlers to bring to life the generous event, filled with golden plates and crystal glasses. 'At first, I thought it was a prank call because it was such an amazing offering,' Omilami said.

The event's inception could have very well come from Divine Intervention, as Mrs. Fowler reports 'It was my husband's idea...'We prayed about it. And when he woke up the next morning, he said, we're going to call Hosea Feed the Hungry and ask if we can donate it to the needy. I immediately looked up the number and called and spoke with Mrs. Elisabeth Omilami, and in doing so, we partnered. And it was such a wonderful feeling.'  It is unknown as to why the wedding was cancelled, but that didn't keep things from going sour, especially for the event that thousands went into, and for the ex-would-be bride. 'We're very pleased that she's handling it so well,' Mrs Fowler has said 'She was also very delighted to see and know that others had an opportunity to enjoy something, rather than just allow it to go to waste.'  Omilami said her focus is on the children, as they make up about 70% of Atlanta's homeless, and that it'd be a great experience for the guests to learn etiquette, 'So this was an educational opportunity as well because now they all know how to eat a four-course meal and the etiquette involved in that.'  Mrs. Fowler has begun to encourage others to follow their example, stating  'Events are canceled, and sometimes for unknown reasons. Do not allow that opportunity to go to waste. Call up your favorite charity. Give them an opportunity to use that for people that will not have an opportunity perhaps in life,'

The Fowlers have named the event "The First Annual Fowler Family Celebration of Love" and plan to host again next year, currently in search of sponsors.
