ABC Orders New Singing Competition Series "Rising Star" 

The ABC network has a new singing competition in the works. Singing competition, "Rising Star" first appeared on Israel's Channel 2 network this fall earning an audience share of 50%. The series has also been sold to France, Germany and Russia.

 Viewers of the show vote for real time live performances through an app that determines if a competitor will advance in the competition or not.

ABC ordered 10 episodes of the series from Keshet DCP and plans to air the show's first run during summer 2014.

Airing during the summer will give the show a chance to gain viewership while singing competition shows, "American Idol," "The X Factor," and "The Voice" are on downtime.

The only possible struggle ABC will have is timezone issues with the east and west coast when it's time for the real time voting.
