Adele Reportedly Walks Away From $20 Million L'Oreal Deal

Resident diva-in-chief Adele has already been on record saying she was taking an 8-year hiatus after the massive success of her Grammy Award-winning record 21. For companies thinking the "Someone Like You" singer would step back into the spotlight for a lucrative product campaign, think again.

L'Oreal reportedly offered the U.K. sensation a whopping $20 million deal to be their next spokesperson. The spot would have put the "Skyfall" songstress in the ranks of fellow A-listers Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.

An insider source close to the operation said the deal seemed like it was all but settled until Adele suddenly dropped out.

"L'Oréal was in negotiations for the deal with Adele and it looked to be happening-but she just changed her mind on it," said the source. "L'Oréal is gobsmacked that she turned down such a huge amount."

This isn't the first time the diva has expressed her dislike for being a vehicle for product placement. By her own definition, taking the deal, especially for such a large sum of money would go against her values as an artist.

In a past interview Adele's been on record saying, "I don't want my name anywhere near another brand. I don't wanna be tainted or haunted. I think it's shameful when you sell out."

If accepted, Adele would have been the highest-paid celebrity in L'Oreal history.
