'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 Spoilers: Simmons Recovering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Falls In Love?

Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) will be recovering from her post-traumatic stress disorder in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3.

Simmons will soon reunite with former flame Agent Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) in the hit ABC series, hints Henstridge herself on Entertainment Weekly.

As the season opens, Simmons will "still in the grieving process." She's anxious that she made it back but Will (Dillon Casey), the NASA scientist she briefly loved at the other planet, did not survive.

Henstridge said Simmons was experiencing survivor's guilt. She's taking time to manage her emotions while Fritz is backing her along the way.

"Fitz has been so supportive throughout the whole thing. She's going further down that path with him and her feelings. She loves him and wants to be with him. She hasn't forgotten about Will, but it's more the guilt she's carrying. They're taking things slowly on whether they're going to get together or not," Henstridge said.

Meanwhile, Season 3 will also see Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) haunted by guilt after he killed Ward (Brett Dalton). According to Christian Today, Gregg has previously hinted that his character will have a number of bouts where he blames himself for giving into the darkness inside him. Ward murdered Rosalind (Constance Zimmer) and Coulson got back at Ward.

Series creator Joss Whedon told IGN that the leader S.H.I.E.L.D will be bothered by guilt for a long time and the other agents will not easily notice it.

"Initially we won't necessarily know how much that has affected him. He definitely crossed a line and he knows this," said Whedon.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 will premiere March 8 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
