Allen Iverson Retires from NBA, Will Make Official Announcement / First Ballot NBA Hall of Fame? (VIDEO)

Allen Iverson is officially ready to give up another NBA comeback and announce his retirement soon.

Iverson has not appeared in an NBA game since 2010 but played over seas in Turkey and did a China tour just last year (2012).

He was an 11-time All-Star and one of the best guards in NBA history. He carried the Philadelphia 76'ers to the 2001 NBA Finals against the Lakers who went on to win the Championship. This was Iverson's only trip to the NBA Finals in his career. Iverson was awarded with the NBA Most Valuable Player of the Year Award for the 2000-2001 NBA season as well.

The reason he has never officially retired is that he hoped he would get one last curtain call with an NBA team, but unfortunately for him that never happened and he seems to be closing that door.

Iverson last played in the NBA in February 2010 in his second stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him out of Georgetown in 1996. The city welcomed him back but she didn't last more then one season.

Iverson played stints (several short) in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76'ers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.

At the beginning of this year, the Dallas Maverick's D-League affiliate did offer him a job, but he turned it down hoping to get the call from an NBA roster.

Allen Iverson should be an easy first ballot NBA Hall of Famer.

Iverson's off-the-court problems and financial issues have been mostly what fans have heard about the former NBA star rather  than a comeback.

"At some point it comes to an end regardless, however it comes, whether it is retirement or injury, at some point it comes to an end," Iverson told CSN Philly. "I am happy and content with everything that has gone on in my life and I am just looking for the next phase, and if I get a chance to play again I would love the opportunity, but if not I will continue to just be happy."
