Amanda Seyfried Twitter Post Rebukes Hollywood's Obsession with Weight, Looks
Actress Amanda Seyfried recently voiced her frustration over Hollywood's over-the-top obsession for thinness in a recent rant on social media.
The 29-year old actress took to Twitter on Oct. 19 sharing some shocking news to her almost 400 thousand followers, "Fun fact: I almost lost out on several roles in my career because I was overweight. Wrong, America," the 'Red Riding Hood' actress wrote.
Many of her fans posted in her defense and reassured the actress that she was "perfect" and that those who didn't want to cast her are "mad" and "disgusting."
One fan wrote: "@AmandaSeyfried WRONG. You're beautiful, no matter the measurements," while another one mentioned Hollywood's nonsensical standards saying, "@AmandaSeyfried They treat their standards of being skinny and attractive in a way that's so wrong and so dangerous."
The 'Les Miserables' star didn't exactly revealed what roles she missed out on in her tweet, however she did reveal to Glamour UK back in 2010 that if she was indeed overweight, she would not have been cast in 'Mamma Mia'.
"If I didn't run and work out, there's no way I would be this thin," she told Glamour at the time, "But I have to stay in shape because I'm an actress. It's f****d up and it's twisted, but I wouldn't get the roles otherwise. If I'd been a bit bigger, I don't think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!"
In another 2010 interview with Esquire, Seyfried shared that in order to maintain her thin frame, she even resorted to eating raw food, and described it as "awful."
"It's intense. And sort of awful," she described her diet, "Yesterday for lunch? Spinach. Just spinach. Spinach and some seeds."
Meanwhile, Seyfried got together with the 'Mean Girls' cast including Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Tina Fey and Lindsay Lohan- 10 years after it first aired in a special "Reunions" issue of Entertainment Weekly.
