The "American Idol" results show was last night for the Top 6 contestants.  It has been a female dominated season all year long and continued that way with the final guy left standing, Lazaro Arbos, getting sent home last night leaving an all girl Top 5 for the first time in "American Idol" history!

Celebrating the girl power tonight will be original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson.  Clarkson has been the epitomy of success since she won Season 1 and along with Carrie Underwood, they have been the standards that every girl hopes to achieve when she joins Idol. 

Before performing, the went down memory lane with Kelly Clarkson in a video montage.  There was no way to sum up her career in the past 11 years with all she has accomplished, but it does remind everyone how far she has come.  Clarkson has sold over 20 million records and is the standard for pop success for female artists of the last decade.  

Kelly Clarkson performed her song, "The People Like Us" Which is off her greatest hits records volume I, with a glow in the dark theme.  Her voice sounded incredible as usual and shows the Idols to what they need to shoot for. 

After her performance, when Ryan Seacrest was doing a quick interview, Mariah Carey came up to talk with Clarkson and she seemed truly awe struck talking with Mariah.  It was refreshing to see such a big star acting like a kid in front of their childhood idol.
