There is no such thing as an overnight sensation and Anthony Brown is proof of that.  Though it may seem that he just suddenly burst onto the scene, Brown has been putting in major behind-the-scenes in the gospel industry for years.  Working with notable artists such as Maurette Brown Clark, Donald Lawrence, and VaShawn Mitchell has afforded Anthony the opportunity to hone his writing and vocal production crafts.  

This month, the world will finally get a chance to see what many have known for year.  The week kicks off with Anthony , along with his dynamic vocal ensemble group therAPy, giving people a LIVE taste of their debut project during his CD release concert on August 20th.  With heavy hitters like Mitchell, Byron Cage and Richard Smallwood expected to be  in attendance, you know this is a concert that should not be missed.

The following day, August 21st, marks the long-awaited street date that Brown has been diligently working towards.  With much early buzz, Brown's self-titled debut album has been described as "refreshing", "a must hear", and "awesome".  Driving the early-interest in this record is the upbeat, sing-along-in-your-car, get-up-and-dance song, Testimony.  Since its release, the single has steadily climbed up the charts and currently sits in the Billboard Top 20.  Even gospel veteran, Donnie McClurkin couldn't help but get caught up in the reaffirming message and groove-able beat of this radio hit.  During his hosting stint on TBN last month, McClurkin invited Brown and his ensemble to perform on the show to share the tune with viewers: "When I first heard the song it hit me" said McClurkin, "Now there are only a few people that hit me when I hear specific songs with that kind of power and anointing: Andre Crouch is one, Walter Hawkins was one, Kirk Franklin is one, Cece; but there are very few that hit me when I hear it...that[Testimony] hit me..."

With endorsements from the gospel greats, increasing radio airplay, and promising iTunes single sales, Anthony Brown & group therAPy's new project is sure to deliver.
