Apple MacBook Pro 2013 Release Date: Specs, Price and Features ROUNDUP / Is it Time to Upgrade to the New MacBook Pro Model? [VIDEO]
The newest model of the Apple MacBook Pro was announced yesterday at the live Apple Keynote Event in Cupertino. Along with a new iPad 5, iPad Mini 2, and iPad Air, the tech company revealed the specs, prices, and features of the new MacBook Pro model that starts shipping today.
TheVerge.com wrote an article about the new MacBook Pro Model today. They wrote, "Apple's lineup of workstation laptops was lightly refreshed today, with a handful of updates focused on speed. The 13-inch Macbook Pro is lighter at 3.46 pounds, thinner at 0.71 inches, and quicker as well: It runs on a 4th-generation dual-core Haswell chip from Intel, and its graphics run up to 90 percent faster than the previous generation. It's also cheaper, starting at $1,299 instead of the $1,399 that its predecessor cost. The notebook gets up to nine hours of battery life, Apple says, and includes improved flash storage, Wi-Fi, and Thunderbolt 2. It starts shipping today."
The real issue here is whether or not it is worth an upgrade if you already have a 2012 model MacBook Pro. A major upgrade that will severely affect the casual user is the prolonged battery life on the newest model. Apple claims that OS X Mavericks will extend battery life to almost 9 hours of usage time. The 2012 MacBook Pro can install the new OS X through a free download from Apple's website.
