Apple's second keynote event of the year is scheduled to take place today, and there is much speculation about new products and software announcements coming today from the California company. So far, rumors indicate that there will be a new iPad, a iPad Mini, OS X, and iPod.

The new iPad will feature a lighter and thinner body and may even come with different back colors. It will also feature that new Touch ID fingerprint scanner that everyone has been talking about.

The chances of a new iPad Mini are very high and many critics suspect that the keynote event today will include an announcement for the iPad Mini 2. Dan Moren wrote an article on MacWorld.com that reads, "One big head scratcher, though, is whether or not the 7.9-incher will boast a Retina display. Reasons against? A high-resolution display costs more to manufacture, and it requires a lot of horsepower to drive it - and those horses have a healthy appetite for battery power."

So far speculation about the new iPod rates the likelihood of a release of a new iPod at "very slim" according to MacRumors.com. Dan Moren writes, "Then again, Apple could really surprise us by updating the iPod classic. I mean, what music pack rat wouldn't like a 250GB Space Gray iPod classic with a Multi-Touch display and... oh, who are we kidding? We rate the likelihood of more updates to the iPod line at a slim 20 percent, with much of that probability resting on a larger-capacity iPod touch. The chances of a new iPod classic? Next to nil."

Last but not least, the new OS X for Macs, called OS X Mavericks, will be released today along with the other hardware and products. The big question revolves around how much the software will cost. Will it be $20 like Mountain Lion?
