Apple Surpasses Coca Cola to Become World's Most Recognizable Brand / What Does This Mean for the iPhone and iPad Designer? [VIDEO]
Apple recently surpassed Coca Cola to become the world's most recognizable brand and toppled Coke's thirteen year run at the top of the brand food chain. The closely followed survey watches consumer reaction to brands through advertising. Coke fell two spots this year and rests in third behind Apple and Google. The report said, "Every so often, a company changes our lives, not just with its products, but also with its ethos. This is why, following Coca-Cola's 13 year-run at the top of Best Global Brands, Interbrand has a new number 1 - Apple. Apple reached a financial pinnacle in 2012 when it became the most valued company of all time. The peak value was not sustained, however, but the brand's financial performance in 2012 was even stronger than 2011 and, on a product and popularity basis, Apple continues to whet appetites for more."
What does this mean for Coca-Cola? The survey had good things to say about Coke too. It said, "Coca-Cola achieves impressive global presence through standout ad campaigns, bold design, digital savvy, and a simple, universally relevant theme that weaves throughout the brand's communications: happiness."
McDonald's is the only other food retailer in the top 10 charting in a number 7. The list is completely consumed by tech companies such as IBM, Microsoft, GE, Samsung and Intel.
