'Archer' Season 10 News: Upcoming Season To Serve As Finale One?
"Archer" creator Adam Reed confirmed that season 10 will mark the end of the FX animated show.
Appearing on an episode of the "Murmur" podcast from the Modern School of Film, Reed went frank about his plans for the series.
"The plan is to end 'Archer' after season 10. I don't know that anybody has talked about that, but that is definitely my plan, is to do eight, nine, and 10--and they're gonna be each shorter seasons of just eight episodes--and then wind it up," he said.
Adam explained that his original plan was to end the show after its eighth season. However, a "brain explosion" caused him to believe that extending the show for two more seasons would be fine.
"So the three seasons that are coming up are going to be pretty different from what's come before, and they're going to be different from each other," he said.
Adam also spoke about how his decision to continue the show was both a business and a creative one.
"One big thing is it's business, and Matt and I own an animation studio, and we have 100 fantastic people who work there and we want to keep them working forever," said Adam.
"Then there's all this other above my pay grade businesses stuff about VOD and number of season and syndication and all that stuff. The more episodes you make, the better it is in the long run. Money is a big part of why everyone is in show-business is the business part," he added.
"Archer" season 8 is set to premiere next year, while seasons 9 and 10 are expected in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
