Arizona Cardinals vs San Francisco 49ers Results, Record News: Arizona Cardinals Get 33-21 Win
The Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers faced each other at the Levi's Stadium for Thursday Night Football, both with a 1-3 record.
At the outset of the game, it was 49ers that got on the board first with a 9-yards reception by Jeremy Kerley. He took a 7-0 lead over the Cardinals in the second quarter. With 1:46 left in the first half, Larry Fitzgerald caught a 21-yard pass from Drew Stanton, tying the game 7-7.
After taking over in the red zone, the Cardinals managed a field goal, but the 49ers hit kicker Chandler Catanzaro on his attempt at the field goal. On the next play, Arizona RB David Johnson rushed for a 4-yard touchdown, giving Arizona a 14-7 lead with 12:45 left in the third quarter.
With 7:43 left in the third quarter, Larry Fitzgerald caught a 29-yard pass from Drew Stanton, extending the lead of the Cardinals to 21-7.
Carlos Hyde finished an 11 play, 82-yards drive with a 1-yard touchdown, giving the 49ers their second touchdown of the night. With 13:44 left in the fourth quarter, Catanzaro made a 36-yard field goal, extending the Cardinals lead to 24-14.
With 4:44 left in the fourth quarter, David Johnson ran in a 2-yard touchdown and gave the Cardinals a 31-14 lead.
The Cardinals took advantage of San Francisco's mistakes to get a 33-21 win. In total, Arizona got 17 points off three turnovers by the 49ers. Turnovers plagued the 49ers as they gave the ball away several times.
Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton completed a total of 11 of 28 passes for 124 yards, as well as two touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald, who finished with 81 yards and two touchdowns on six catches. While Stanton did not make much on the offensive side, he managed to end the game with zero turnovers.
As for running back David Johnson, he rushed for 157 yards with two touchdowns. He and Fitzgerald made up 92 percent of the total offensive production of the Cardinals.
On the other hand, the 49ers offense failed to recover from costly turnovers. Blaine Gabbert completed 18 of 31 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The game aired on Thursday night on CBS and NFL Network.
