'Arrow' Season 3 Premiere Spoilers, Release Date: Episode 'The Calm' Depicts New Villain & Oliver's Romance

The long wait is finally over as fans get the chance to catch the premiere episode of 'Arrow' Season 3 on October 8. The episode is entitled "The Calm," and airs on The CW at 8/7c, a day after 'The Flash'.

According to the synopsis of the episode, Oliver's love interest is introduced early in the premiere episode. Queen finally has a chance to pursue matters that don't involve crime fighting, as he asks Felicity out on a date.

VC Post spoils that post Season 2, there's really nothing for the townsfolk to fear, "The Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force."

Unfortunately, right after Oliver musters up the courage to ask Felicity out on a date, a new villain appears. The official synopsis reads, "However, when a new villain (guest star Peter Stormare) emerges, who has claimed the name Vertigo from the recently deceased Count, Oliver is caught off-guard and someone close to him is hurt," according to Futon Critic.

Spoilers go on to mention that Oliver and a "newly suited up" Roy, played by Colton Haynes, take the initiative to face Vertigo.

Meanwhile, the other characters in the series develop their own storylines in the Season 3 opener. According to the synopsis, "Diggle (David Ramsey) becomes a father, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is promoted to Captain, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) joins Arrow's inner circle and Felicity gets a part-time job at a tech store to make ends meet."

Last but not least, fans should expect Oliver Queen to fight for the control of his company, Queen Consolidated, against a very formidable opponent. 'Arrow' Season 3 will showcase Ray Palmer, played by Brandon Routh, standing on top of Oliver's brainchild.

On a side note, fans can catch 'The Flash', another CW superhero show, on October 7, 2014.
