Batman vs Superman Movie Cast News: Update Confirms Jesse Eisenberg to Play Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons Joins Film
The eagerly awaited Batman vs Superman movie has had some dramatic cast news released as it has been confirmed that Jesse Eisenberg will play Superman's arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. The new movie will continue Warner Brothers' cinematic development of D.C. Comics' two most renowned superheroes, and rumors suggest that production may already have began on the sure Box Office hit.
Henry Cavill, who played as Superman in the Man of Steel movie, has actually been seen in Michigan restaurants and pubs, leading to vast rumors that filming has begun. One Michigan fan reported speaking to him and being told that "they've been filming in Pontiac."
However, some signs run counter to that claim; most notably that Cavill still currently has a beard, meaning it would appear he is not filming scenes as the clean cut superhero just yet.
In another development that has challenged some long-time fans of the genre, Eisenberg, star of "The Social Network," has been selected to play the role of bald super-criminal Lex Luthor, according to Just Jared.
Eisenberg, with a track record of playing a "nerd's nerd' in many of his movies, is generally seen as a character-actor for younger, less maniacal roles. Cavill's similar age does nothing to compensate for his Brawny-lumberjack bearing which makes him seem unmatched to Eisenberg in maturity. What will it look like on the big screen?
In other dramatic news, Jeremy Irons has been chosen to depict the trusty butler to the Dark Knight in the upcoming Batman film, reported Just Jared. A mature actor, director Zach Snyder said that it will be an "honor" to have him take on the important role. Irons has played in such films as "The Man in the Iron Mask," and "The Mission" and is considered as one of Hollywood's most respected actors.
Matthew Goode of "The Watchmen," and the recent "Stoker" is also rumored to be receiving a role in the upcoming film. However, there is no indication as of yet as to what his part might be.
