Ben Affleck as Batman in New 'Man of Steel 2' Movie / Director: 'Argo' Star "has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal"
It's a Dare Devil miracle. If you were the one person that actually enjoyed Ben Affleck's first super hero role, then you must be elated to hear the Argo star is going to be cast as Batman in the highly anticipated sequel to the Man of Steel franchise.
Though Twitter was a-buzzing with Ben Afflect hate within hours of Warner Bros. announcing the casting decision, Man of Steel 2 director Zack Synder sees the bright side in selecting Affleck for the role.
"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry (Cavill)'s Superman," Snyder said in a statement. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne."
Film School Rejects echo Synder's sentiments:
"Affleck as Batman in 'Man of Steel 2' is actually some pretty exciting casting news. ... (A)fter more than a year of rumors and speculation that he would be directing their Justice League ensemble (movie) and/or possibly playing the Caped Crusader in it, this seems to be an equally interesting announcement."
Though I'll never forgive Affleck for Gigli, I will say he's made quite a comeback in the last year or so. Ben, just remember: "with great power comes great responsibility."
Wait, wrong movie.
Do you think Ben Affleck will make a good Batman in Man of Steel 2?
