Bill & Gloria Gaither Select Author/Musician David Teems as Contributor to Gaither Homecoming Bible

Acclaimed author and musician David Teems is featured as a contributor in the Gaither Homecoming Bible, a highly-anticipated new Bible designed and edited by Bill and Gloria Gaither. The New King James text, which released this week through Thomas Nelson's Bible division, incorporates hymns and devotionals from the iconic gospel music family and their friends.

Bill and Gloria Gaither assembled 60 of their Homecoming friends, many who have appeared regularly on the Gaithers' Homecoming concerts and TV specials, to share insight and commentary on favorite verses and hymns. The Gaither Homecoming Bible features inspirational and insightful Scripture devotions by the Gaithers and other favorite Homecoming artists; articles on beloved hymns and gospel songs, as well as Gaither classics and the inspiration behind them; original poetry by Gloria Gaither to enlighten and inspire; and quotes by greats of the faith. Teems is among a cast of contributors including Jeff Easter, Sheri Easter, Ernie Haase, Mark Lowry, Mylon Lefevre, Gordon Mote, Ivan Parker, Janet Paschal, Lulu Roman and Russ Taff, among others.

Teems, a noted author and musician, has written devotionals to accompany Psalm 131, Thessalonians 5:17 and Hebrews 12:2 in the new Bible.

"It is difficult to imagine singers, musicians, poets, and writers - those who negotiate a fine lyric - being more at home than in the pages of a Bible, with its warm musical heart, its lovely old voice, and its deep inward gaze," Teems says. "I am honored to be one of the contributors to the Gaither Homecoming Bible."

Teems, a long-time friend of the Gaithers, was featured, along with his recent Thomas Nelson release, Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God An English Voice, as Gloria Gaither's Top Book Pick in the October 2012 issue of Homecoming Magazine.

"From the time we first met David Teems, I have loved this man's heart, mind and writing," Gaither says in her review. "I have followed the trail, both of his words to music and also his poetry and prose - the depth of his soul, the sharpness of his insights and the breadth of his subject matter. These, added to the tender compassion and sensitivity of his art, have culminated in the carefully researched and beautifully written Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God An English Voice."

David Teems (300)Teems is no stranger to accolades for his scholarly, yet remarkable, biographies. 100 Huntley Street host Jim Cantelon called his biography, Majestie: The King Behind the King James Bible, "...one of the best written books I've ever read."

Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God An English Voice was released by Thomas Nelson in January 2012. With thoughtful clarity and a reverence that comes through on every page, Teems shares a story of intrigue and atrocity, betrayal and perseverance. This book shines a light on how the Reformation officially reached English shores - and what it cost the men who brought it there.
