Season 5 of the popular police procedural drama 'Blue Bloods' will premiere on Friday, Sept. 26, at 10.00 pm EDT on CBS Television Network with its first episode entitled "Partners."

An official synopsis released by the showrunners regarding the premiere episode reads, "As Danny and Baez escort confiscated drugs to a remote location for incineration, their convoy is attacked and Baez is seriously injured, leaving Danny to track down the drug cartel responsible. Meanwhile, Frank must carefully navigate personal and political waters when an exemplary lieutenant's actions cause controversy for the NYPD."

In 'Blue Bloods' Season 5, viewers will once again see the multi-generational family of cops devoted to enforcing the law in New York City. The department is headed by police commissioner and Reagan brood Francis "Frank" Reagan (played by Tom Selleck), who manages his family just as he runs his police department.

Danny (played by Donnie Wahlberg), Frank's "source of pride and concern," is a seasoned detective and Gulf War veteran. Fans will often see Danny along with his detective partner Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) resorting to "dubious tactics" to solve cases.

In addition to Reagan, Danny and Maria, the other characters of the show's Season 5 include Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan) Linda Reagan (Amy Carlson), Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito), Anthony Renzulli (Nicholas Turturro) and Nicole Boyle (Sami Gayle).

According to the Futon Critic, a number of other guest stars are also expected to feature in the premiere episode of 'Blue Bloods' Season 5. It's revealed that Kirk Acevedo will portray the character of Javi Baez, Charles Borland will appear as Lt. James McCarthy, Daniel Sauli will play Agent Rick Siblano, and Michael Buscemi will perform the role of Owen Stapleton.

Episode 2 of 'Blue Bloods' Season 5 has been titled "Forgive and Forget," and it will air on Friday, Oct. 3, in usual time slot.
