Season 5 Episode 16 "Felina Recap":
If you're still reading this then you know Walter White, a.k.a. Heisenberg is dead.
The Breaking Bad series finale may not have been the big shocker everyone was hoping for, but it was a satisfying 75-minute block of closure for one of the most intense dramas in network television history.
Nearly all of the loose storylines were tied up. The whole second half of Season 5, Walt seemed bent on killing Jesse after he ratted out their criminal history to DEA agent Hank Schrader. The end of last night's finale showed a redemptive, almost protective Walt taking down the Aryan brotherhood for several reasons:
1. They killed his brother-in-law Hank.
- Remember, Walt may have been in the "empire" business because he enjoyed the thrill, but his family was always important to him. Maybe not priority number 1, but always a factor.
2. To save Jesse
- Though Jesse was a meth-head before Walt was ever involved, by the end of the story Walt feels guilty for manipulating his young protégé, and feels partly responsible for his downfall and decides to liberate him from his white supremacist captors.
3. Last, but certainly not least, the Todd and his crew was trying to recreate Walt's patented blue meth. Walt was proud of the product he provided and at the end of his days wanted credit for his accomplishments. It's the same motive for planting the ricin in Lydia's artificial sugar packet.
After days or weeks of torturing Jesse, Matt Damon's ginger cousin Todd [just a joke] got what he deserved. After Walt's machine killed all but one of the brotherhood, Jesse used his handcuffs to choke Todd to death.
Walt's family also had some closure. His wife Skylar finally got to hear the truth from Walt after he admitted it was his own selfish reasoning for continuing the meth business and not the same "good of the family" lie he used to justify his actions. It reminded her of the man she once loved. The two even got a final moment with their young daughter Holly.
Walt Jr., who was left in the dark for much of the series, will get the remainder of Walt's $9 million fortune thanks to Elliot and Gretchen who will deliver it to him as a donation for his 18th birthday.
