Call of Duty Ghosts and Skylanders Swap Force Sales Rank No. 1 and 2 on the Market for December 2013
Call of Duty: Ghosts and Skylanders Swap Force were the number one and two selling games for the month of December Activision announced.
NPD's charts indicated that CoD Ghosts was the top selling game for both the Xbox One and PS4. It was also the fifth consecutive year of being the top selling video game franchise.
Swap Force was the second highest selling game in December and the top selling children's video game franchise for the second year in a row, including toys and accessories as well. Polygon reported that it was the number three selling video game for the year 2013.
"This consumer response to both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Skylanders speaks to the deep connection both franchises have made with fans, which fuels our commitment to delivering great games time and again," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, in a release.
If software only is factored in, Skylanders drops to 10 place, but because the series depends greatly on accessories and the toys that interact with the game, Swap Force was able to climb the chart.
In true software sales Battlefield 4 was in second place, and Just Dance 2014 was third.
