Captain America 2 Release Date, Cast & News Update: Chris Evans Wants to Quit Acting After Filming Marvel Movies

Chris Evans, the star of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", plans on quitting acting once his contractual obligations with Marvel Studios ends in a few years. Evans first played Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the "Captain America: The First Avenger" movie back in 2011.

In addition, he returned as the superhero when some of Marvel superheroes assembled to save the world in the "Marvel's The Avengers" film two years ago. Furthermore, he teams up with some of his Avenger allies (Black Widow and Nick Fury) in the upcoming movie.

"If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing," said Evans to Variety in a recent article. "I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."

He is set to make his debut as a director when his film "1:30 to Nowhere" appears in theaters this year. The "1:30 to Nowhere" movie stars Evans alongside Alice Eve of "Star Trek Into Darkness" fame. Evans wants to mainly focus on directing instead of acting.

"I've known for a while I wanted to direct. But (time) never really opens up. There's another movie to do, there's another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what - I have to do this," said Evans to Variety.

The 32-year old actor also revealed when he plans on stop playing as Captain America.

"That's a good question," said Evans to Variety. "We can do this out loud. ('Avengers 2') will shoot till August. I wouldn't be surprised if for all of 2015, we didn't do a movie. I bet by 2017, I'll be done."

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which stars Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson will debut in movie theaters on April 4 in the U.S.
