'Castle' Season 7 Episode 1 'Driven' Recap, Spoilers: Mixed Reviews, Rick Duress?

Fans finally got the chance to catch the first episode of 'Castle' Season 7, but sadly they are left with more questions than they came in with. The September 29 episode, "Driven," left fans with mixed reviews and some wild predictions about what's to come.

Recapping Episode 1, fans were thrown right into the center of the investigation as the flames on Rick's wreck were being extinguished by the fire department. Fans were able to ride along with Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan as they took to the junkyard in search of the Escalade tied to Castle's abduction.

Unfortunately, the three don't make it to the vehicle in time, as it's soon crushed by the junkyard's compacting machine. However, they're led to a former acquaintance of Castle, New Jersey mobster, Vinny Cardano.

The episode takes a strange and shocking turn, as Rick Castle himself is shown on the security footage, paying for the car's disposal. Vinny claims he had no idea Castle was involved in this, and had only complied for the $10,000 he received.

After the FBI gets involved, the fans along with the characters learn that the money Castle used to pay for the car's disposal is the same funds he withdrew days before, intended for his honeymoon. Apparently, he used the money he withdrew to pull himself out of the trouble he fell into.

Soon, a classic 'Castle' moment is queued and two months elapse, still without any sign of Rick. With all hope lost, Beckett tries to cope with the idea that she'll never see Rick again. However, the episode cuts to a rickety old dinghy floating adrift at sea, and in it lies an unconscious Rick Castle.

Rick is rescued and taken to the hospital where the perfect explanation is given as to why he cannot remember what has happened to him over the last couple of weeks. That's right, Rick Castle has amnesia and cannot recall and tell the eager Beckett and company what actually happened to him.

Toward the end of the episode when Rick and Kate look for answers, trying to find out what his disappearance was all about, they run into Henry Jenkins. However, they quickly learn that he's the real Henry Jenkins and the one Beckett had met before, was simply an imposter.

'Castle' Season 7 Episode 1, "Driven" was met with mixed reviews on Reddit in an official discussion post. One fan said, "I honestly don't know what to think of the episode. It felt a bit rough around the edges...Too fast and too slow at the same time."

Episode 2, entitled "Montreal" airs October 6 on ABC.
