'Castlevania' News Update: No New Metroid Game For 3DS And Wii U
In line with Konami's dark fantasy action-adventure video game "Castlevania," its developer debunked rumors about Nintendo having a new Metroid game for the 3DS and Wii U. Also, details behind the game being abandoned have surfaced, as per former Konami producer.
In his interview with Eurogamer, game co-founder Enric Alvarez said that the rumors were more bulls**t, adding that people had a lot of imagination and time to think about stuff, but that was not necessarily the truth.
According to Alvarez, somebody had asked them about what other game they would like to do and he thought that the "Metroid thing" had come from that, adding that it had been about the Metroid influences in "Mirror of Fate."
"The rest is pure invention," Alvarez said.
According to Game Spot, "Metroid Prime: Federation Force" for the 3DS was the newest Metroid game this summer. As per the publication, the game received criticisms following its announcement, as series protagonist Samus did not appear as a playable character. Nintendo executive Reggie Fils-Aime reportedly handled the negative response and asked players to trust the studio to provide them a new experience.
Meanwhile, former Konami producer Dave Cox unveiled some details about "Castlevania" being abandoned. In his interview with Eurogamer, he said that the studo had wanted to go in a different direction in terms of development, which was one of the reasons why the studio he had been heading up had closed down.
As per Cox, the studio had wanted to move more into mobile and do more development in Japan. For him, the studio had known at the time what they had wanted to do or where they had wanted to go.
"Castlevania" was initially released in 1986 and is playable on the Playstation, Nintendo 3DS, and Microsoft Windows, among others.
