Chris August Said He Wanted a Kanye West/Taylor Swift Moment at the K-LOVE Fan Awards, 'You Actually said Chris Tomlin, You Meant Chris August' (VIDEO)

Christian contemporary artist Chris August joined BreatheCast on the red carpet for the K-LOVE Fan Awards last weekend and joked about modeling the famous 2009 Video Music Awards incident between Kanye West and Taylor Swift.

The Texas native, dressed in his staple bow tie and glasses, was in high spirits for the K-Love Awards. Although not nominated for anything, August joked with BreatheCast and said, "I'm just gonna win everything!"

He continued, "You got to have confidence." Adding, "I'll just go up and take it, you know, like Kanye." August's mention of "like Kanye" refers to when the rapper stormed the stage of the VMA's just after the first award was presented to Taylor Swift, for Best Female Video. He cut the teen singer off, grabbed the microphone and protested in support of Beyoncé.

August jokingly continued and said he would tell the presenters of the award, "You actually said Chris Tomlin, you meant Chris August."

The crooner performed his hit song "Starry Night" at the K-LOVE Fan Awards Songwriters Showcase concert and said for the actual award show he was just going to take it in. "Tonight you can expect me to sit back and enjoy it."

August shared with us his plans for the future. "Coming up, I'm working on a third record," he said adding, "I'll be touring with Big Daddy Weave this fall."

He ended the interview by saying he was "Just having a blast making music."

August began his music career as a secular musician before switching to Christian music. He has been a successful Christian musician since his song "Starry Night" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart.
