The honor comes on the heels of DiChiara and Empowered's recent co-headlining performance at the Rockin' Your Soul Concert Series in Joplin, MO, where they performed songs from their latest release, Yahweh Nissi.

At the event, DiChiara, the frontman and primary songwriter for Empowered, shared his powerful testimony of surviving a traumatic head injury that nearly took his life and his capacity to create music. Instead, he astonished doctors with a rapid and nearly full recovery, and the man who was once at the edge of life is now full of purpose and divine presence.

"We saw so much Jesus at this show," says DiChiara. "My tears flowed as I prayed over people that night. Their stories. Their pains. Their uncertainty. But they knew to ask for prayer. They knew that Jesus was the answer that they sought. It is both humbling and amazing to see Him work through the music He's given us.”

DiChiara and Empowered's latest EP, Yahweh Nissi (Slingshot Records) includes the No. 1 hit single, "I'll Meet You There (Daddy’s Song)," and the current single, "Jesus Can Heal the World," both of which DiChiara co-wrote with the record's Dove Award-nominated producer, Mikey Howard (7eventh Time Down and Love Journey Music).

About Benny DiChiara and Empowered:Singer/songwriter/survivor Benny DiChiara is the founder and frontman of the indie Christian Rock band Empowered.

In October 2015, a serious brain injury nearly took his life and his capacity to create music. DiChiara astonished doctors with a nearly full recovery, and the healing process turned into a creative season, during which the band's chart-topping EP, Three Days, was written. And now, with the launch of their new EP, Yahweh Nissi, DiChiara continues to proclaim his journey from lost to found, aimless to empowered, unapologetically bold in his faith and the message of Jesus' saving grace.

“God spoke to me that He is looking for His people to not only claim Him, but to rise up with their voices to bring people back to Jesus,” says DiChiara. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).
