Ryan Murphy Announces Season 6 Will Be The End of "GLEE" Corey Monteith's Death Ends "Glee" Series For Good
Corey Monteith's Death Ends "Glee" Series , Ryan Murphy Announces Season 6 Will Be The End of "GLEE"
The music TV series Glee is on a brief hiatus after its tribute episode to Corey Monteith. Monteith's death has seriously affected Glee and the show's creator, Ryan Murphy announced that the sixth season will be its last.
TV Line revealed that Glee had been renewed, but it will be the series finale and that the ending of the show had to completely re-written because of Cory Monteith's tragic death, which played as one of the show's leads and star quarterback, Finn Hudson.
Ryan Murphy did an interview where he explained the reasons for the show's end.
"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I know what the last shot was -- he was in it. I knew what the last line was -- she said it to him," Murphy said. "So when a tragedy like that happens, you sort of have to pause and figure out what to do, so we're figuring that out now."
The initial ending was of Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry telling her old Glee club teacher that she thought she would make it on a Broadway show or even in a Woody Allen movie, walk back to the choir room, and see Finn teaching where she would tell him that "I'm home."
That ending has since then been retracted and Finn Hudson was killed off in last week's episode called "The Quarterback".
Murphy talked about re-doing the series saying, "I have a good idea. I'm going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory's unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love."
Glee will come back from its hiatus and the fifth season will continue on November 7, with the episode called "A Katy or a Gaga."
