The Cotton Ball Diet: This Dangerous Trend Has Horrible Side Effects
The newest diet fad out there is called the cotton ball diet, which consists of, you guessed it, eating cotton balls. One major concern that doctors have with the cotton ball diet is that if it goes on unchecked long enough, the person using the diet could develop severe blockages in their digestion system.
Experts think that they cotton ball diet caught on because it seemed like "get rich quick" scheme for young girls to lose weight rapidly. Many of the YouTube videos devoted to the cotton ball diet are created by girls between the ages of 9 and 16 who want to be skinnier.
Lynn Grege, the CEO of National Eating Disorder Association, said, "When we talk about something like this we certainly aren't talking about health anymore. We're talking about weight and size and certainly something that is potentially very, very dangerous."
