DC Rebirth News Update: 'Cyborg' Exposes A Shocking Secret?

Cyborg revealed a shocking secret in "DC Rebirth."

Followers of the comic book know that Vic Stone has always considered himself as a normal teenager who was simply transformed into a cybernetic hero after being involved in an explosion and exposed to a certain technology from Apokolips. In the first issue of Cyborg's new comic book, Vic found out that he might just be a soulless machine, and that he might actually not be alive after all.

Following his battle with Malware, Vic unearthed a secret recording of his father, where Dr. Stone speculated that Cyborg is just a digitized replica of his son. According to Dr. Stone, this replica may think of himself as real when he is actually not. However, it has the ability to stimulate the thoughts and feelings of the real Vic.

The twist is reminiscent of "Anatomy Lesson" from Alan Moore's "Swamp Thing," where Swamp Thing found out he was nothing more than just a plant creature embedded with the late Alec Holland's memories.

What complicates matters more is the introduction of a new villain whose striking resemblance with Dr. Stone is pretty uncanny.

"Cyborg # 1" is one of the titles under this year's "DC Rebirth." It is set for release on September 21.

In June, DC Entertainment relaunched its superhero universe with "DC Rebirth," which saw the comic book versions of DC characters undergo a high-profile makeover. Three months since its launch, the "Rebirth" line has already sold over 12 million physical issues. "Rebirth" titles are selling 29% better than the DC reboot launched by the comic book publisher in 2011.
