With two major Christian films under his belt (Blessed & Cursed and A Beautiful Soul), Deitrick Haddon has opened up about his love for movies and acting secrets with fans and supporters.

During a recent interview with Ugospel.com, Deitrick discussed the steps he took to prepare for his role as "Andre Stephens" in the film A Beautiful Soul.  His transformation 'techniques' included: getting in a zone, watching films with similar characters and studying as "Andre Stephens" for about 2 weeks.

Haddon also mentioned that one of the movies he studied to prepare for this role was the Mario van Peebles film, "New Jack City". Another element which aided him in becoming comfortable with his role was the support of cast members Harry Lennix, Vanessa Bell Calloway and Golden Brooks. Haddon stated that they made a special effort in pushing him to step up his game.

Working with these seasoned actors also helped him to become more comfortable with the set, script and working long hours while filming the movie.

Though mostly known for his musical gifts, Detrick expressed that he had a love for movies and acting at an early age. Haddon began acting in plays at his local church and in school. After graduating High School, Deitrick took his passion one step further and traveled with various stage plays across the country.

Throughout the film, fans can definitely see that Deitrick is no stranger to the camera and that he put his all into delivering a powerful message to viewers.

Lastly, Haddon stated that the overall message of A Beautiful Soul is that no matter what you've done, you're beautiful in the sight of God and nobody is bigger than God's love.

Directed by Jeff Byrd ("Soul Food" TV series), A Beautiful Soul is the story of Andre Stephens (Haddon), an R&B superstar who has success, fame and fortune but has lost his way spiritually. The film follows Andre after his "perfect" life is shattered in a brutal attack that leaves he and his best friend, Chris Johnson (Ri'chard), clinging to life. The tragedy pushes Andre into a spiritual journey that forces him to make a choice that could change his destiny forever.  Leading the cast is Deitrick Haddon as Andre Stephens. The film also stars Harry Lennix ("The Matrix"), Robert Ri'chard ("Coach Carter"), Lesley Ann Brandt ("Spartacus"), Golden Brooks ("Girlfriends") Vanessa Bell Calloway ("HawthoRNe") and Barry Floyd ("The Game").
