The Detroit Red Wings (4-2-2) will battle the Washington Capitals (4-2-2) on October 29 at the Verizon Center in Washington, District of Columbia.

The Red Wings are attempting to prevent a potential two game losing streak against the equally formidable Capitals on Wednesday night, after Detroit previously lost to the Philadelphia Flyers by a final score of 4-2 (on Saturday).

Detroit coach Mike Babcock revealed his thoughts regarding his squad's latest defeat after Flyers left winger Michael Raffl scored two goals against Red Wings goalie Jonas Gustavsson.

"I thought we played a great game and did lots of really good things, tons of good stuff," said Babcock to reporters.

"You play like that, and most nights you're going to win. We did lots of good things and weren't rewarded. It goes like that sometimes."

Now the Capitals are looking to rebound from their recent loss when they attempt to defend their home ice against the team from 'Motor City'.

Washington suffered the 4-2 defeat to Vancouver after Canucks' Nick Bonino and Radim Vrbata each totaled a goal and an assist versus the Capitals on October 26.

Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin expressed his thoughts regarding his team's performance on Sunday night.

"I think some of us were moving well, but some of us were not ready, and maybe tired, maybe just was mentally not ready," said Ovechkin to reporters.

"We have to figure out what we have to do to be mentally ready for back-to-backs."
