"Divergent" Trailer Featuring Kate Winslet and Shailene Woodley Released

A new trailer for the "Divergent" movie was just released. The movie hopes to capitalize on the popularity of "The Hunger Games" series as it is a science fiction movie with a strong female lead role played by Shailene Woodley.

The movie is based on the book of the same name by author Veronica Roth and has drawn comparisons to "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. The movie will be directed by Neil Burger who also directed "Limitless."

The plot of "Divergent" is set in futuristic Chicago where citizens are all divided into five different factions. There are the Selfless, the Honest, the Brace, the Intelligent, and the Peaceful. When lead character Shailene Woodley finds out she doesn't fit into any of the factions, she is labeled as a divergent and uncovers a conspiracy to wipe out other people like her. Neil Burger talked about the process that the characters go through when they are put into their factions. He said, "What she learns, as they say, is that her results are inconclusive. She doesn't fit anywhere and she's what's know as Divergent. She doesn't understand at this point, she just knows that it's dangerous."

The lead villain in the film is played by Kate Winslet who is on a mission to destroy all divergents. She says, "Divergents threaten the system. It won't be safe until they are removed" in the trailer.
