DMX confirmed as George Zimmerman's opponent in Celebrity Boxing Match

George Zimmerman the man acquitted in the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin will step in the ring for a Celebrity Boxing match with Rapper DMX TMZ reports.

DMX, 43, is out to hurt Zimmerman, 30, he told TMZ. Not only will he break every rule in boxing but he said he'll "beat the living (expletive)" out of Zimmerman.

Celebrity boxing was once a Fox television show. Damon Feldman is the owner of Celebrity Boxing and he became popularized for putting together bizarre celebrity boxing matches such as Todd Bridges vs. Vanilla Ice and Paula Jones vs. Tonya Harding.

Zimmerman told CNN, "A mutual friend put me in contact with Damon and provided me with an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and continue with my weight loss goals and also be able to help a charity out."

RadarOnline.com reported that Boxing was a hobby of Zimmerman even before the Martin shooting.

"Prior to the incident I was actually going to the gym for weight loss and doing boxing-type training for weight loss and a mutual friend put me in contact with Damon and provided me with an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and continue with my weight loss goals and also be able to help a charity out," he said.

Apart from the Martin "incident," Zimmerman has quite a few charges and arrests due to altercations with his ex-wife and current girlfriend, including a felony aggravated assault, domestic violence and a reported assault on his father-in-law.

Feldman reportedly said to several news sources that he was accepting offers for someone to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman, and Wednesday morning, he selected DMX as the contender out of more than 15,000 e-mailed requests.

"The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time," Feldman's news release said. The date, time, and location of the fight will be announced at a news conference next Wednesday.
