‘Doctor Who' Christmas Special 2016 Trailer Revealed Now: Return Of Doctor Mysterio
BBC has released the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special trailer giving fans a tease of what to expect when the hour-long feature rolls along on BBC America on Dec. 25.
"Doctor Who" stars Peter Capaldi as the Time Lord, Charity Wakefield as an investigative journalist, Justin Chatwin as the masked superhero, Matt Lucas as Nardole, Michelle Gomez as Missy and Stephen Hyam in a minor role.
In the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special trailer, people get to see for the first time how the masked superhero looks like. In order to save New York from menacing aliens, the Time Lord has to team up with a mysterious hero who goes by the name of Ghost and a passionate investigative reporter who may be way over her head.
Chatwin's role is described as a "brash figure with an American accent - and in all likelihood a few dark interstellar secrets of one sort or another." His name is Grant Gordon who wasn't born with the superpowers, ala Superman, but has powers bestowed on him.
Steven Moffat, in an interview with Radio Times, also hinted that some monsters may be familiar to "Doctor Who" fans. He said the monsters have been around before but wasn't really a problem for quite some time now.
"There's a sinister plot afoot to conquer the Earth and the Doctor is involved in stopping the plan and then stumbles upon the superhero he accidentally created. Which complicates matters," he explained.
This feature is written by showrunner Steven Moffat, executive produced by Brian Minchin and directed by Ed Bazalgette.
