'Dragon Ball Super' US Release Date: English Dub Hits Toonami Adult Swim Starts Next Month
Toei Animation, Inc., Funimation Entertainment and Adult Swim are teaming up to bring "Dragon Ball Super" starting January 2017.
Adult Swim will start airing the U.S. English dub of the series' freshman season on Toonami block starting January 7, 2017 at 8:00 P.M. and 11:30 P.M. Season 1 of the hit anime series consists of 26 episodes, covering the "Battle of the Gods" and "Resurrection F" story arcs.
The English dub of "Dragon Bal Super" will feature the voices of renowned voice actors, including Sean Schemmel as Goku, Christopher R. Sabat as Vegeta, Jason Douglas as Beerus, Ian Sinclair as Whis and Sonny Strait as Krillin. Together with this release, Funimation Entertainment will also make available the English subtitle version of "Dragon Ball Super."
The series picks up after Goku's fight with Majin Buu as he seeks to maintain peace on Earth. "Dragon Ball Super" draws in its three decade-history will be supervised by its creator, Akira Toriyama. In a recent interview, Toriyama said his hopes are high that the new series will be able to draw more viewers.
Meanwhile, a "Dragon Ball Super" website was recently launched to provide exclusive content, character information, news and videos about the series. Fans who will visit the site now will see a countdown for the premiere, as well as a register slot for those who want to receive regular updates about the series.
As for its musical score, reports claim that the original Japanese musical score will be kept since no mention of the musical scoring was announced by its creators.
"Dragon Ball Super" season 1 airs on January 7 on Toonami Adult Swim.
