'Driveclub' PS4 Reviews & Ratings: Average Scores, User Comments, Gameplay
The new racing-sim title for Playstation 4, 'Driveclub', was released in North America on October 7, and has already received some mediocre reviews. Gaming websites all over the Internet and user comments say 'Driveclub' offers exactly what the gamer pays for.
'Driveclub', stylised as DRIVECLUB, was developed by Evolution Studios and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game mainly focuses on road based racing, and allows players to race as a team- a "driveclub."
This means that the actions of the all the members on the team, up to 6 players, effects the team's journey to fame. On a side note, many of the maps and tracks are based on real places, the game features dynamic weather (rain and snow), and there's a day/night cycle.
Stepping into reviews, IGN gave the game a 7.9 out of 10 and had this to say, "Driveclub is the best-looking racing game I've ever seen on a console, but down deep it's a more modest, conventional arcade racer than the sprawling, open-world types we commonly see today."
Evidently, the graphics have a lot to do with the game's current popularity, as Evolution Studios, surely made use of the PlayStation 4's next-gen capabilities.
Joystiq went down the other road and ranked the game a touch lower than many of the other reviews. They gave the game a 3 out of 5 and said, "Driveclub is a well-made, sometimes irritating juxtaposition of the old and new. The career mode is old-fashioned and its AI is hopelessly ignorant, but the graphics and competitive jabs online feel perfectly fit for 2014."
Again, graphics seem to be one of the highlights in this newly released racing-sim. However, users focused more on the gameplay aspect when commenting about it. One user via Reddit wrote, "So 7~8 mostly thus a B level game. Pretty much expected. It seems that racing genre has shifted a lot to simulation. Arcady racers are not as popular anymore."
'Driveclub' is exclusive to the PS4, and can be purchased for $59.99. The title releases in the EU on October 8, and in the U.K it launches October 10.
