Duck Dynasty's Al Robertson to Preach at First Colony Church of Christ on Feb. 2

A Christian congregation is inviting A&E Duck Dynasty family member Al Robertson to their church.

Alan is the beardless eldest son of Phil and Kay Robertson. Alan is slated to speak at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services at First Colony Church of Christ on Feb. 2.

Duck Dynasty is a popular reality TV series based on Robertson's family and their duck call company, Duck Commander.

Robertson's upcoming speech is going to be called Faith, Family and Ducks, and event is free, reported Chron.

According to an admissions office employee at Cornerstone Christian Academy named Nancy Burnett, Bring a Friend Day is an annual event that corresponds with Super Bowl Sunday.

In addition, Burnett also mentioned that because members tend to bring a lot of visitors on Bring a Friend Day, the church usually invites a speaker with widespread appeal.

"It's a way our members can showcase the church to their friends and relatives," said Burnett of Cornerstone Christian Academy that works in the First Colony Church of Christ's building.

According to Burnett, the reason the church invited Robertson to minister was because Alan is a church elder and active at his local church in West Monroe, La.

"We just knew that he was a good speaker, so we invited him to be here," said Burnett to Chron. "There's no connection (to the controversy)."

Duck Dynasty airs on the A&E network on Wednesdays at 10pm EST.
