'Duck Dynasty' Star Miss Kay Robertson Shares on Marriage, Family and Christian Testimony: "God Told Me to Fight for That Marriage"
Duck Dynasty matriarch and head chef Miss Kay Robertson not only believes in the power of fried squirrel and homemade jams. More importantly, she believes God can heal broken families.
She willingly shared part of her Christian testimony at the "Night of Ducks and Huck" event along with Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee Saturday.
The family never shies away from talking about their family's troubled past when first starting out. Right before her speech Miss Kay decided to abandon the speech her eldest son Alan had written for her, opting to "let the Holy Spirit lead her."
Miss Kay outlined three things she wanted everyone to walk away with from her speech. The first is to be happy.
"I try to find joy in everything," Miss Kay told the crowd. "Another thing I want you to learn is how to overcome difficulty by being determined to never give up. I had 10 bad years with Phil, and he was horrible. I did not give up on my marriage; I did not give up because God told me to fight for that marriage, and I did and it made it through."
Her last piece of advice was to focus on family, telling the crowd to, "build a strong foundation with your family, because you need them and they need you and that's very important in America today."
For all of the naysayers and cynics who think Miss Kay, along with the rest of the Robertson clan are exploiting Southern tradition and clichés to make a buck, she reassures them their interactions on Duck Dynasty are genuine.
"We're not pretending. We are sincere, and we care about America, and we care about changing this world and bringing it back to what it used to be," she said.
Duck Dynasty Season 4 airs Wednesday nights at 10 PM ET on A&E.
