Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson and Family Return to A&E Network for Season 5 Premiere Jan. 15
Duck Dynasty fans await the return of the A&E hit reality series next week especially with the return of Phil Robertson after his ban was lifted for the forthcoming Season 5 episodes.
In an issue of GQ Magazine, Robertson paraphrased the Bible by stating, "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right." It was these comments along with a series of others regarding homosexuality that got him suspended from the show.
Robertson also received criticism for discussing his experiences growing up in a segregated Louisiana.
"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field.... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people'-not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues," said Robertson in the GQ article.
After a brief suspension, A&E restored the Duck Commander back to his show on December 27, 2013.
The entire Robertson clan returned to work on the most recent 10 episodes in the reality series that has established A&E viewership history, counting the Season 4's season premiere episode, when Phil reinstates his vows with Ms. Kay.
"Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views...It is a show about a family [who] come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness," A&E said in a statement to People Magazine,
Duck Dynasty returns to television on the A&E network on January 15 at 10pm EST.
