Duck Dynasty's Sadie Robertson: Show Encourages Students to Pray in School Groups
Duck Dynasty's teenage star Sadie Robertson said her family's reality show is empowering students to pray before eating lunch at schools throughout the United States.
The sixteen-year-old Robertson spoke to spectators in Montgomery, Alabama on Sunday about how the younger generation are creating "Duck Dynasty clubs" to pray prior to lunch at school. She stated it is tremendous that the television series supports kids having the ability to pray in their schools.
The young Robertson made her comments during a fundraiser for the Prattville Christian Academy, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.
She said her family has decided not to discuss about the controversy surrounding the comments regarding homosexuality expressed by her grandfather, Phil Robertson.
In an issue of GQ Magazine, Robertson paraphrased the Bible by stating, "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right." It was these comments along with a series of others regarding homosexuality that got him suspended from the show.
After a brief suspension, A&E restored the Duck Commander back to his show on December 27, 2013.
"We're just glad to get back to work, A&E and us are fine," said Sadie's father Willie Robertson to Fox News to "All-American New Year" hosts Bill Hemmer and Elisabeth Hasselbeck in an interview on December 31. "The Robertson's, we are looking forward to getting back to making some funny shows and it's a new year, so we are ready to break in a new year and start it all over again."
Sadie said her entire family are cheerful to return to the hit series together due to the fact her grandfather Phil is the patriarch of the Robertson family and the show would not be the same without him.
Duck Dynasty returns to television on the A&E network on January 15 at 10pm EST.
