Duck Dynasty Star Willie Robertson: We're 'Thankful and Blessed' and Now Ready to Move On With A&E Series In 2014
"Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson has said his relatives are ready to move onward with their hit A&E series following the network suspending then reinstating his father Phil Robertson over comments he made calling homosexuality a sin.
In a special interview with Fox News on "All-American New Year" on New Year's Eve, Robertson and his wife Korie told hosts Bill Hemmer and Elisabeth Hasselbeck that there was no animosity between the Robertson clan and the A&E network and they are thrilled to back on the show in 2014.
"We're just glad to get back to work, A &E and us are fine," said Robertson. "The Robertsons, we are looking forward to getting back to making some funny shows and it's a new year, so we are ready to break in a new year and start it all over again."
Willie's father Phil Robertson was suspended by A&E for nine days after expressing his views that homosexuality is a sin in a GQ magazine interview. Following his comments, gay activists hounded A&E to drop Duck Dynasty altogether, and the network reacted by "indefinitely suspending" Phil Robertson for his comments. However, hundreds of thousands then demanded A&E reinstate Robertson, with many calling on fans to boycott the network in reaction to their treatment of the reality TV star after he expressed his biblical views.
A&E again reacted just over a week later, and the Duck Dynasty patriarch was allowed to return to his show on December 27.
"You know we are ready to move on," said Willie. "I think we all learned a lot and we are just ready to move on and the family is happy and we are ready to go."
Korie Robertson echoed her husband's thoughts, staying she is also pleased the entire Robertson clan can return to the show.
"The best thing about the show is we get to do it together as a family," said Korie.
Willie Robertson said supporters of the show can expect more excitement from the Robertson's, and good quality episodes in 2014.
"We had a lot to be thankful for in 2013 for sure," said Willie. "If this next year is half as successful we will be blessed."
