Ed Sheeran New Album: "Relationship Troubles" with Ellie Goulding Inspiring New Songs? Male, U.K. Version of Taylor Swift?

You could call Ed Sheeran the male Taylor Swift of the U.K.

Like, the "Red" songstress, Sheeran is using personal drama as inspiration for his new songs. He's good friends with one of Swift's exes, Harry Styles. Did he get some inside drama on the couple's demise?

Keep in mind, Sheeran isn't new to high-profile relationships. He briefly dated Ellie Goulding, who could have inspired a lot of new material.

"This album has been a lot of relationship troubles I guess, " Sheeran said. "The first album I was inspired by everything that around me. I was kind of growing up surrounded by a lot of very interesting people and had a lot of stories such as 'The A Team' and 'Small Bump' and stuff like that. This record there has been more drama that has happened in my personal life, so I've written a lot about that."

It will be tough to live up to the success of Sheeran's debut album, which broke the top 5 in the U.S. charts. With an expected February 2014 release date, Sheeran is busy putting the finishing touches on his brand new songs.

"I have written them, I just haven't worked out properly how to play them live, I'm getting there though, I'm getting there," he added.
