Evangelist Ray Comfort Offers Practical Advice for How to Reach Homosexuals About their Sin; 'We Truly Do Love Them' He Says [INTERVIEW]
BREATHEcast caught up with well-known evangelist Ray Comfort to talk about his new film 'Audacity' in which he confronts the delicate subject of homosexuality and Christianity.
The film comes at an interesting time since many Christians have been outspoken about the Supreme Court ruling of same-sex marriage. During our interview with the radical evangelist he offered advice for Christians on how to peacefully share the truth of the Bible with the LGBTQ community.
"If someone is hard hearted and proud there's no way you're going to get through to them. [BUT] the ones that are tended hearted and the ones that you avoid the homosexual issue at first and go for their conscience and humble them," he advised.
Many in the LGBTQ community believe that Christians who disagree with their life style are being hateful and bigoted. Some people who claim to be Christians actually have been hateful and bigoted, as seen by the West Borrow Baptist Church, but the Living Waters founder said it is all in our approach.
He went on to say, "If someone is homosexual don't mention their sexual preference just say 'hey' and take them through the commandments and show that they're condemned despite their sexual preference. Once they go 'whoa I've never seen that before' then say 'hey look at this 1 Corinthians 6:9 -10. It not only has adulterers and fornicators but homosexuals but you really need to repent of all sin. Do it in gentleness and in love."
The scripture found in 1 Corinthians 6:9 -10 says, "do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Comfort hopes his new film will reach deep down to the soul of the homosexual. He trust that "Audacity' can help gays and lesbians come to that realization.
"'Audacity' will come out of the closet August 19 that's when you can use it to send all over the place, to loved ones. Were going to make sure it get to homosexual forums, atheist forums, all around the world were going to push it through the Internet so that people can see the Christian point of view. And that's the power of 'Audacity,' It's causing people to see that they're missing information," he said.
Continuing, "They don't realize that we truly do love them and that we're just concerned for their eternal salvation. Not wanting to get rid of them because we don't like their life style because such were some of you. All sin is just as heinous in God's eye. So 'Audacity' is going to be a wonderful tool to touch the homosexual community."
Comfort's many evangelism videos on YouTube have made him very popular for tackling controversial issue that many avoid.
