'Fallout 4' Release Date News: Development Confirmed, Bethesda Silent About Launch Window

While Bethesda Softworks, which owns the rights to the 'Fallout' franchise, has confirmed that 'Fallout 4' is already in the works, they have not yet specified a release date.

The first two installment to the 'Fallout' series were published by Black Isle Studios, while the latest addition, 'Fallout 3' was published by Bethesda.

Around the time that Bethesda acquired the rights to the franchise, Bethesda vice-president (PR and Marketing), Pete Hines, said, "The whole reason we went out and acquired the license and that we now own Fallout is that we clearly intended to make more than one. This is not something we're going to do once and then go away and never do it again."

Hines went on to add, "When that will be or how long that will be God only knows, but we acquired it specifically because we wanted to own it and develop it and work on it like we do with The Elder Scrolls."

In fact, speculation regarding a fourth installment of the 'Fallout' game started sometime last year.

Precisely speaking, the rumors gained ground when Erik Dellums, a voice actor in 'Fallout 3', indicated in a Twitter post that his character, Three Dog, would be returning in the series. He followed up with another tweet, saying, "I was given permission to release that tease."

In fact, last year even the gaming blog website, Kotaku, reported that 'Fallout 4' was definitely being developed. The site's report was based off of voice casting documents, which were later proven to be authentic.

A voice script page was also leaked at that time, which started with the phrase, "War. War never changes." This, incidentally, happens to be the standard introductory line in all the 'Fallout' franchise games.
