Family Ministries Cancels 'Duck Dynasty' Event Due to Robertson Family's New Wine Business

Though the Robertson family members and cast of popular A&E hit series Duck Dynasty are openly Christian and end every supper with a thoughtful prayer, apparently some in the religious community aren't too happy with the bearded boys.

The family recently announced they'd be collaborating with Trinchero Family Estates in Napa to start their own line of Red called Duck Commander Wines.

Because of the seemingly secular business venture, a benefit in Bristol, Tennessee, where Willie Robertson was scheduled to talk, has since been canceled. Family Ministries director of development Derek Bell reasoned the wine business conflicted with the organizations values.

"Our greatest responsibility is to the young people we serve. Therefore, we feel that in light of the recent news, to continue with this event would send mixed messages to the young people who go through our Adolescent Drug and Alcohol program," Derek Bell, director of development for Family Ministries stated. "Our message must be consistent. The lives of those children may well hang in the balance.  We certainly apologize to the people who have already purchased tickets, and pray they understand our position."

Though the wine business should prove just as successful as some of the family's other product deals [books, clothes, hunting gear] is it a good idea, faith aside, to offend such a key portion of their demographic?
