The Film Bachelorette falls Pretty Short / The Female "Hangover"

The 2012 film was written by Leslye Headland and stars Kirsten Dunst (Regan), Lizzy Caplan (Gena), and Isla Fisher (Katie). The 3 girls are reunited through a wedding of a former friend Becky (Rebel Wilson) who was bullied in high school.  The film starts with Regan having lunch with Becky who informs her that she is getting married to her longtime boyfriend. This is a total shock and ego kill to Regan because her fat and unattractive friend Becky is getting married and not her. Regan notifies Gena and Katie of the news and six months later the four are off to New York to celebrate Becky's bachelorette party, but it turns out to be a lot like the female version of "The Hangover".

The film first premiered January 23, 2012 at the Sundance Film Festival and was later released in the United States on September 7, 2012. Bachelorette received some mixed reviews from critics that say the film played it "too safe" and is pretty much bland in taste.  It received a 56% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 76 reviews. James Berardinelli from ReelView gave the film 0 stars and stated "Sometimes a movie is so bad it makes me want to go into seclusion and never see another film. Bachelorette is one of those." He labeled the film "The movie to beat in the 2012 Worst Film of the Year category." Bachelorette can now be found in stores on DVD and Blu-Ray. You be the judge!
