Three years ago, Mozilla was recognized as the The Most Trusted Company In Privacy. Now, with the Firefox 50.0 update, the browser just reinforced privacy protection for its users.

From the time the free-software community was created in 1998 by Netscape members, it's the second most used browser in the world next only to Google Chrome. What most people don't know is that Mozilla is also behind the Thunderbird e-mail client, the Bugzilla bug tracking system as well as the private web browser for the iPhone.

According to Neurogadget, the private browsing option in Firefox makes it even harder for other third party software to track your browsing history. It also added download protection for exe files on Mac, Windows and Linux.

The other changes in the Firefox 50.0 update include enhanced performance for SDK extensions as well as increased accessibility of webGL to more than 9 in 10 users of Windows 7 or later versions.

Here are the release notes on the Firefox 50.0 update:

- Playback video on more sites without plugins with WebM EME Support for Widevine on Windows and Mac

- Added Guarani (gn) locale

- Added option to Find in page that allows users to limit search to whole words only

- Updates to keyboard shortcuts

- Set a preference to have Ctrl+Tab cycle through tabs in recently used order

- View a page in Reader Mode by using Ctrl+Alt+R (command+alt+r on Mac)

The Firefox 50.0 update also fixed a critical security issue which makes the user vulnerable to attacker code to install software, as well as third-party softwares collecting sensitive data from the user's computer.
