Fox "Sleepy Hollow" Premiere Episode 1 Recap / Ratings / Spoilers
Fox's new series "Sleepy Hollow" beat out its competition in ratings with its seasons premiere last night. "Sleepy Hollow" had 10 million viewers and a 3.4 rating among adults 18-49 making it Fox's highest-rated fall drama premiere in six years. Fox predicts Hollow will grow to more than a 5.0 rating with the addition of seven days of DVR playback.
The season 1 premiere opens with a fight in the American Revolution. A huge, leather-leather masked redcoat is sprawled out with an axe. Ichabod Crane chops the nemesis' head off before just before he parishes from his own battle wounds. The scene then cuts to black and Ichabod busts out of his grave that is surrounded by jars of frogs and body parts.
Ichabod runs from his grave to only notice he has traveled forward in time and is on unfamiliar territory. Cars pass by Ichabod and he is soon apprehended by police for looking suspect. Police question Ichabod and he reveals that he is a British spy in George Washington's army. The police bring him up to date and inform him that the war has been won, but the headless horseman and not far behind. The sheriff and a deputy named Lieutenant Abbie Mills are having some coffee when they get a call from nearby. They head out and are greeted by our Headless Horseman and the sheriff is slaughtered.
Ichabod is released into Lieutenant Mills' custody and she takes him to a mental facility. On the ride there Ichabod notices a reverend that is standing outside of a church, who is later killed by the headless horseman. Mills brings Ichabod to the mental hospital finally, and she was able to secure him a private room. That night, Ichabod has a dream about his wife. She warns him of the apocalypse, saying that our Headless Horseman is just the first of the infamous Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse. She tells Ichabod that her grave is not filled with her dead body, but by the headless horseman's head and if the Horseman gets the head, it will trigger the end of the world.
Abbie and Ichabod make their way back to the graveyard and dig up the head, but one of Abbie's colleagues tells the horseman their plans and they confronted by the horseman, who is allergic to sunlight.
